2018 IMPACT REPORT

Together, we do more.

Thank you for your commitment to conservation! You are part of Texas Land Conservancy’s community of supporters who recognize the importance of not just caring for our land but also ensuring that our wide-open spaces, working lands, wildlife habitat, scenic views, and special memories have a place in our future.

To our donors, landowners, volunteers, foundations, and community partners, we are grateful for each of you.

Hope to see y’all soon,
The TLC Team

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID IN 2018

These are more than just numbers, though. You had a REAL impact in 2018.

PROTECTING LAND FROM DEVELOPMENT

Our state is rapidly and dramatically transforming. The population in Texas grows by about 1,000 people each day, leading to the increase of urban development and a higher demand for water.

Because of your support, more land is permanently protected from the negative effects of poorly-planned development. Texans across the state can continue to experience nature, breathe clean air, and drink clean water.

GIVING TEXANS THE RESOURCES THEY NEED

Over 95% of the land in Texas is privately owned. That means large-scale conservation is impossible without help from private landowners.

Because of your support, Texas Land Conservancy is able to assist private land owners who choose to protect their property from encroaching development pressure. Texans across the state are able to prioritize conservation and protect more land and water.

 2018 CONSERVATION HIGHLIGHTS

In 2018, 2,590 more acres were protected in Texas. These conservation successes could not have happened without your continued support. TLC has now protected a total of 91,539 acres across the state.

Griffith Ranch

979 acres in Mason County

The Griffith Ranch is rich in history with a diverse landscape of savannah, brush, and riparian woodland habitats. Keeping this ranch undeveloped will help ensure the springs of Big Bluff Creek continue to flow and contribute to the water quality of the beautiful Llano River for the benefit of Texans and the environment alike.

Los Madrones Ranch

396 acres in Travis County

Los Madrones Ranch is a beautiful landscape of limestone bluffs, open pastures, and diverse woodlands located along Hamilton Pool Road. The ranch has been in the same family for the last 40 years and is home not only to the Murphy family but also to seven pairs of the endangered Golden-cheeked warbler.

THANK YOU FOR ENJOYING NATURE WITH US

From hikes, star parties, and camping weekends to conservation workshops, trivia nights, and happy hours, we loved hanging out with you in 2018. The more we can come together to share our love of nature, the more people who will want to protect it.

THANK YOU FOR DONATING YOUR TIME

Without you, we would not be able to maintain TLC preserves and have them open and accessible to the public. Thank you for making it so we can all enjoy these natural areas. A special thank you to Toyota, the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association (DORBA), Texas Conservation Corps, and our volunteers at Marysee Prairie, Ivy Payne Wildlife Refuge, and Kachina Prairie.

THANK YOU FOR DRINKING BEER (FOR CONSERVATION)

We are so thankful for our community partner breweries who participated in our Beer for Water campaign, but it wouldn’t have been successful without you! For every beer you drank, breweries donated $1 to protect land, water, and wildlife in Texas. We are excited to continue building this community of conservation-focused businesses so we can continue to protect land, and the water that flows through it, for years to come.
