Join TLC and our partners from the Texas Master Naturalists, Rio Brazos Chapter for a guided hike and sneak peak at TLC’s Vivian J. Malone Preserve, a 145-acre nature preserve in Rio Vista, TX.
Malone Preserve was gifted to TLC in 1995 by Vivian J. Malone. The preserve is not yet officially open for unsupervised exploration, while our volunteers work to open up trails and restore native plant and wildlife habitat. Future recreational activities will include hiking, birding, nature photography, and more. Preview the mix of woodlands, pocket prairies, riparian bottomlands, and 1700 feet of frontage along the Nolan River offers peaceful scenery as well as valuable habitat for native wildlife and plant communities. If you are interested in supporting our efforts to open this preserve to the public and its continued maintenance, please consider making a donation to our North Texas Giving Day campaign !
The hike will take approximately 1.5 hours, and refreshments will be available before and after. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. Families are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Free to attend, but registration is required.
