Join us February 21st for our hike at Green's Bayou, a beautiful property located in Harris County on the northeast side of Houston. To view the location of the preserve on a map, CLICK HERE
Green's Bayou features mature bottomland hardwood forest and is composed of 60 acres of beautifully forested hardwood bottomlands including a number of large, bald cypress trees. Some of the other species that can be found on this property are dwarf palmetto, young oaks, and red maple.
We are excited to visit this property in February as it is a great time to see birds that are overwintering in the area. To learn more about common birds in the Houston area, please CLICK HERE.
The hike will begin at 10am on Saturday, February 21st.
The hike will be mild to moderate exercise and we will be hiking off-trail most of the morning. Please make sure to wear close-toed hiking shoes and long pants. If you want, please also bring warm clothes, a full water bottle (1 for each hiker), your cameras, and any snacks you’d like to have in addition to the KIND Bars we will be providing. We will be out in nature and you may encounter prickly plants, wily wild animals, and wonderful weather patterns.
We will be posting more information about the hike as it gets closer, but if you would like to sign up for the hike or if you have any questions please email our Director of Partnerships and Outreach, Ashley Lovell at
We look forward to seeing you in the great outdoors!!
