2023 IMPACT REPORT
Starting the Next Chapter
In the afterglow of our 40-year anniversary in 2022, we aspired to make the next decade even better—and we are already off to a great start. With development and fragmentation continuing to threaten Texas' landscapes, we kicked off 2023 with strategic planning to set clear, ambitious goals. This resulted in our commitment to protect an additional 100,000 acres over the next five years.
One of our most exciting achievements for the year was completing the transfer of 19 properties from Hill Country Land Trust, ensuring the permanent protection of these beautiful landscapes, forever. We celebrated this milestone at our Hill Country Celebration event in the fall, a lovely evening filled with old friends and new faces, all united in support of our vital mission.
We are so grateful to everyone who makes this important work possible. Your passion, ideas, time, resources, and commitment to conservation are what make TLC such an impactful organization. We are thrilled to share our collective 2023 achievements with you.
Strategic Planning for the Future
TLC staff and board members completed a new 5-year strategic plan. By 2027, our ambitious goal is to work with all of you to protect an additional 100,000 acres of land across the state.
Passing the Torch
Hill Country Land Trust transferred its 19 protected properties, totaling 8,010 acres, to the TLC portfolio. We commemorated this milestone at our Hill Country Celebration event in the fall.
2023 Conservation Highlights
In 2023, we added 12,216 more acres to TLC’s protected properties. These conservation successes could not have happened without your continued support.

Thank you for celebrating nature with us!
From wildflower walks, bison stomps, and Texas Nature Lotería to fall hikes and camping weekends, we loved hanging out with you in 2023. The more we come together to share our love of nature, the more people will want to protect it.
YOU gave your time
Thank you to the 331 volunteers who donated their time (1,362 hours!) and energy at TLC-owned preserves across the state. We really can’t thank you enough.
YOU built community
We are so grateful for the 26 businesses who donated dollars or items like coffee for workdays or prizes for Texas Nature Lotería—you see the direct link between open spaces and your bottom line.
YOU made a commitment
501 of you joined as TLC members with a gift of $40 or more this year. You make all of this work possible, and we look forward to protecting even more land with you.
