Kachina Prairie
30-acre preserve in Ennis, TX
About the Preserve
Kachina Prairie is a TLC protected property owned by the City of Ennis. It is a 30-acre nature preserve located on the north east side of Lake Clark Park. It is a rare, undisturbed part of the Blackland Prairie eco-region and a southern extension of the North American tall grass prairie. At one point in history, the tallgrass prairie covered over 170 million acres in North America. Kachina Prairie is now being actively conserved by a coalition of the Ennis Garden Club, Indian Trail Master Naturalists, and the City of Ennis. Say hello to the bison when you're on the trail!
