40TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT: Hikes and Hayrides at Chalk Mountain

 

Join TLC and members of the Texas Master Naturalist, Rio Brazos Chapter for guided hikes and hayrides at Chalk Mountain Ranch, 340-acres that has been permanently protected by TLC in Somervell County. Explore the upland prairies with restored native grasses and discover the forested canyons on the limestone escarpment of the Lampasas Cut Plain in North Central Texas. This family-friendly event will highlight native plants and wildlife of the area, as well as celebrate 20 years of protection for this property. Children 12 and under are FREE.

Directions and details will be emailed to participants upon registration for the event. We recommend long pants, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Please bring a refillable water bottle.

Hike and Hayride Details:

  • Hayrides will be every hour on the hour from 8:00-11:00am.

  • Bird Hike 8:00am

  • Nature Hike 8:00am

  • Plant ID Hike 10:00am

  • Nature Hike 10:00am

Come early or stay after your hike or hayride for a chance to visit with our landowners and staff. The Texas Master Naturalist, Rio Brazos Chapter will have family friendly activities, and we will have snacks and lemonade to toast TLC's 40th anniversary. Thank you for leaving your pets at home.
